Tour Cuyabeno 5 Days / 4 Nights


In the northern Amazon region and the reserve is the largest and the deepest jungle of Ecuador: The Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, where they will experience the adventure directly with nature. For lovers of nature and also the adventure seekers a trip in this part of the Amazon is very important. On a tour of 5 days and 4 nights hiking and  canoeing in the jungle will be unique in their lives, learn ancient knowledge of the Amazonian flora, while countless species of wild life will cross their paths.


Day 1:

Upon arrival at the Cuyabeno bridge, your guide will meet you and transport you by motorized canoe to our base camp, Cuyabeno River Lodge. After an initial rest, we will take a short walk in the afternoon on the Ceibo trail, leading us to one of the region’s largest tree species. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served

Day 2:


After an early breakfast, we will visit the Laguna Grande, Cuyabeno’s largest lake, by motorized canoe. During the excursion you will observe the exotic flora and fauna (monkeys, dolphins, etc.) peculiar to this region. After stopping for lunch, we will continue down the Cuyabeno River to the indigenous community of Puerto Bolivar. Here we will participate in the preparation of a typical yucca bread in the home of an indigenous family before returning to our base camp. Optional nocturnal walks and/or canoe rides may be requested free of charge. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served.

Day 3:

Optional: Requests for early morning bird walks are more than welcome. After breakfast, we will continue to trek through the primary rainforest, exploring our longest trail for 3-4 hours in search of exotic plants, animals, and animal tracks. Our guide will indicate medicinal plants, native animals, and discuss local indigenous customs. In addition, we will have the opportunity to row down the river in native style canoes, fish for piranhas, and take a refreshing swim in the Cuyabeno River. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served.

Day 4:

Continuation of exploring walking trails and canoeing in quillas, our native-style canoes. Optional nocturnal walk after dinner. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served.

Day 5:

On day five we will explore one last trail, with new opportunities to see different vegetation and animals before taking the early evening direct bus (6:30 pm) to Quito. Breakfast and lunch served.

We have various types of cabins to suit your needs and preferences: Marital, Doubles, Triples, Quadruples, and Family sized cabins with 6 beds; and we are also building a marital suite. Each cabin has a complete private bathroom (2 in the case of our 6 bed rooms), mosquito nets over each bed, electricity (120v).


From Quito there are two options to arrive at Cuyabeno River Lodge. Direct overnight buses avoid long waits in Lago Agrio, arriving at the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve entrance at approximately 8h00am on the first day of your tour. From the entrance, your guide will take you 20 minutes in canoe to our lodge. 30 minute flight from Quito to Lago Agrio followed by 2 or 3 hours of ground transportation from Lago Agrio to Cuyabeno offer an alternative to overnight buses.
